Grease-proof paper, against icing and grease

Donuts are deep-fried and often glazed. On ordinary paper, that shows fast: grease stains soaking through, icing sticking to the bag, and a print that disappears underneath. Our bags are made from grease-proof paper. The grease doesn't soak through and the icing sticks less, so the donut still looks good when it comes out.

Icing is trickier than grease

Bij de meeste snacks is vet het probleem; bij een donut is dat het glazuur. Suikerglazuur blijft zacht, het plakt aan alles wat het raakt, en bij een net gemaakte donut is het bovendien nog warm. Een zakje dat daar niet op berekend is, trekt het glazuur van de bovenkant af — en dan geef je een donut mee die er aan één kant kaal uitziet. Vetvrij papier heeft een gladde, dichte structuur waar suiker veel minder aan hecht dan aan gewoon papier. Laat een geglazuurde donut wel eerst goed uitharden voor je hem inpakt; dat scheelt meer dan welk papier ook.

How to design a bag that gets photographed often

Donuts worden meer gefotografeerd dan welke snack ook, en dat is precies waar je ontwerp op moet meeliften:
  • Zorg dat je naam leesbaar is op een vierkante foto. Dat betekent: groot, en niet in de onderste rand die buiten beeld valt.

Do you print in-house or outsource it?

We print in-house, in our own production facility. That's why we can deliver quickly and why we can also handle small runs — we don't have to wait for a supplier to find room in their schedule.

Which size donut bag fits best?

For a regular donut, 13×13 cm is sufficient. Choose 14×14 cm for donuts with lots of topping, for filled varieties, or if you want to fold over and seal the bag. If you work with different types, 14×14 is often more practical: one size for everything.

Can you supply a different size?

Doesn't the icing stick to the bag?

We print on grease-proof paper, which icing and grease stick to less than regular paper. The donut comes out neater and your print stays sharp.

What's the smallest order quantity?

We print from small quantities, so you don't have to start with a large stock. The more you order, the lower the unit price — you'll see this reflected in the quantity tier when ordering.

Do I get to see something before it's printed?

Yes, you get a free digital proof. It shows your design on the bag, including the margins where nothing should be placed. Printing only starts once you've given your approval.

Can I get the same design on several types of bags?

Absolutely. Many customers order donut, stroopwafel, toastie and burger bags in the same design. This keeps your branding consistent and saves you an extra design round.

Does the icing stick to the bag?

Much less than with regular paper: grease-proof paper has a smooth, dense structure that sugar doesn't stick to well. The biggest difference comes from letting a glazed donut harden properly before you wrap it.

Does a muffin or cupcake fit too?

Yes. The 13×13 and 14×14 cm sizes are roomy enough for a muffin, a cupcake, a slice of cake or a handful of biscuits. That's why many bakers use one design for their entire sweet counter.

Can I put several donuts in one bag?
